Who We Are

Lone Star Transmission owns and operates high-voltage electric transmission facilities in 11 Texas counties (Scurry, Fisher, Jones, Shackelford, Callahan, Eastland, Comanche, Erath, Bosque, Hill and Navarro). The system went into service in March 2013. Lone Star's transmission rates and services are regulated by the Public Utility Commission of Texas, and we operate in accordance with the reliability requirements of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, Inc. and the North American Electric Reliability Corporation.

Our Company's Strength

Lone Star Transmission fulfilled its initial commitment to Texas by delivering our facilities on-time and under budget, and now we are focused on safe and reliable system operations. As a subsidiary of NextEra Energy, Inc. and an affiliate of Florida Power & Light Company, Lone Star draws on the full capabilities of the company to permit, construct, operate and maintain proposed transmission projects as identified to address reliability and efficient electricity delivery in Texas.

Our strengths include:

Technical Expertise

We have technical experience in engineering, constructing and operating transmission systems with a reputation for excellence, as demonstrated through our parent and affiliate companies. Our parent company is one of the largest utilities in the world, which provides significant leverage with suppliers and often translates into enhanced technical resources as well as reduced costs. As part of an organization with nearly 13,900 employees, Lone Star is able to draw upon and develop a deep reservoir of talented and committed personnel from across the organization.

Construction Record

Since 2003, NextEra Energy has completed 90 major capital projects, most of which are wind, solar and transmission facilities, reflecting an aggregate investment of about $23 billion in generation and transmission assets.

Safety Performance

NextEra Energy maintains one of the strongest safety records in the industry, an indicator both of operational excellence and of the high value we place on the well-being of all our employees and contractors.

Financial Capabilities

Our parent company, NextEra Energy, has maintained strong investment grade credit ratings for years and has extensive experience at financing large electric infrastructure construction projects.

Operational Experience

NextEra Energy manages about 8,200 circuit miles of high-voltage transmission and 750 substations across North America. The team also has more than five decades of experience in planning, constructing and operating underground and submarine high-voltage electric transmission cables.

Community Engagement

Respectful engagement and partnership with local communities form an important part of our management philosophy. Lone Star is sensitive to the needs of local communities and donates to fire departments and civic organizations.

Environmental Stewardship

Being responsible stewards of our environment is ingrained in our culture. We are mindful about how our business impacts the air we breathe, the water and land we use, and the flora and fauna that share our planet.
